Hi, everyone!
Today, we had our long awaited Track Meet! Yesterday, each area (Hilltop, Lakeside, Seniors) voted for their green and white team captains. The captains then selected campers to join their team!
In the morning, campers participated in various field activities, including the running long jump, standing long jump, and softball throw. There were several outstanding performances and the campers showed awesome team spirit by cheering on the green and white teams! We finished up the field activities with the 50-yard dash. We have some speedy campers!
Once we finished on the field, campers were able to cool down with a pre-dinner General Swim. They spent 30 minutes in the lake swimming with friends, jumping off the tower, and diving for rocks. Afterwards, we enjoyed a nice meal of ham and noodles, with green and white cake for dessert!
Rest hour was much needed after our busy morning. Following rest hour, we had our 5th Track Meet event: the marathon! To complete the marathon, campers start on the A-Field, go down Jim Cobb Way (Corduroy Road), and then coast down the Camp Road to the wash stand by Cabin 5. We had a great turnout and many campers who were proud they finished the race!
Once everyone gathered around the flag pole, we prepared for our Team Triathlon. Campers compete with their teams by starting at the top of the Camp Road and passing a baton to the next runner. Once the last runner gets to Main Dock, the batons are passed off to swimmers, who then pass the baton to campers in boats. Campers in boats pass the baton to canoes, who then dock at Cook’s Dock and hand the baton to more runners. Lastly, the runners hand the baton off at Pollywog Dock, where our two senior swimmers anchor each team by swimming the full length of Aquarium and Intermediate. The first team to touch Main Dock is the winner! It was a close, exciting race!
Our last individual Track Meet event was swim races - the campers did an awesome job! We finished our afternoon with a second General Swim, so we could cool off before heading to supper.
Later tonight, the green and white teams will be competing in more team events, such as the ping pong relay and obstacle course. Stay tuned to find out which team wins! Results will be shared at Banquet later this week!
Until tomorrow,
CAW staff
