Hi everyone!
The day started off cloudy and ended with sunshine, which was nice for our first full day! This morning, we had blueberry bread and various cereals for breakfast. Afterwards, campers headed back to their cabins to get ready for the day and help with cabin and camp duties.
Morning classes went well! Campers listened to smallcraft rules today and then started learning parts of the rowboats, canoes, or sailboats depending on their smallcraft level. Campers also met their swim instructors and did some stretches before getting into the water. Even though it wasn’t as hot as it has been recently, the lake felt great and campers had a good time in lessons!
Dinner (our big, noon-time meal) was ziti with baguettes, and pudding for dessert. Campers then had the opportunity to get a piece of candy from the Camp Store before heading off to Rest Hour. During Rest Hour, campers and counselors spend time engaging in quiet activities on their bunks, like reading, sleeping, or writing a letter. As we get further into the session, I’m sure more campers will be sleeping during Rest Hour!
After Rest Hour was General Swim! Since it was the first full day, campers listened to rules and then got to swim with their friends!
Our last class of the day is after General Swim. Hilltop has arts & crafts, Lakeside has sports, and Seniors have smallcraft. It was great weather for sailing! Next up was Activity Period, where campers have some free time! Some activities offered today included tower jumping, paddleboarding, hair braiding, and games on the field.
Tonight, supper was meatball grinders with chips and carrot sticks. Following supper, we played Capture-the-Flag for Evening Program. The campers did a great job working together - there were some exciting rounds!
Campers are settled into bed for the night, and since the weather looks nice for tomorrow, we should have another fun day :)
